Topical Times – Beginners Course November 2015
Our recent Beginners Course completed on Sunday 29th November with 10 students.
What a great bunch of enthusiastic participants showing a real zest for this hobby and eager to learn as much as possible. In starting their own bonsai collections I suspect that most of them are destined for much greater things. Some of them have already booked on further classes next year whilst others have expressed an interest in joining a new Academy group.
The final day was all about styling a piece of raw material. They selected from our stock outside and then prepared it ready for discussion. After a brief chat on each tree I pruned away what we decided we did not need.
With the help of Derek, Len, and Ian all the trees were then completely wired….an amazing effort. On the two larger twin trunk pines only one tree was wired and styled due to time constraints. These students can then complete the second tree at home and always bring it back for assessment on another class.
I then helped complete the styling of all the trees and every student opted to take the newly created bonsai home. There really is some excellent potential in this material.
