Looking back….we can tell a tree’s story…..admire an image…..capture a moment…..remember a special event…..be inspired – to create a memory for tomorrow.
I hope you enjoy this regular peep into some of John’s bonsai history.
Memory Lane – Student Bonsai Displays 2008
On one of our early Bonsai Academy sessions in 2008 the subject of the class was displaying bonsai in a Tokonoma setting.
The students worked in small groups and each group was given a deciduous tree and a conifer to prepare for exhibition. The trees were selected from our sales benches.
Pots had to be cleaned, soil surfaces mossed, and the trees themselves had to be tidied, cleaned up and pruned as necessary.
Once the trees were ready the students then had to select a suitable table and an appropriate scroll. A complimentary accent plant also had to be selected and prepared. This would also require a display plinth.
All the elements then had to be brought together in one of our Tokonoma’s with particular attention being paid to the positioning of each item and the spaces this then created.
The results are featured in the pictures below and I think you will agree that considering the basics with which they started the end products turned out very well indeed.
