A regular update on the life and times of John Hanby’s Newstead Bonsai Centre……..
Topical Times – A Diverse One to One!
Andrew came on a one to one recently with a really diverse selection of material. As well as the practical side there was also some discussion on the “whys and wherefores”………
The Trident Maple “stick” was again growing strongly and ready for another drastic pruning. Diameter, taper and movement in the trunk continue to develop well. Soon we will be able to start on the branches.
The Juniper had been wired and was now ready for a styling. The Cedar had also grown strongly and was now ready for a summer pruning.
This large Mountain Maple was a bush when we started but now you can see what we are trying to achieve with our branch selection. The branches we are thickening have been left long. The Juniper Blaauws raft was wired/positioned and looked so much better for our efforts.
This was a really good session, bringing a lot of trees up to scratch and progressing their development. Andrew was able to learn about different species and different techniques.
We have two weekend dates available for a one to one or one to two at the end of August ….. if you are interested contact the nursery!
