An open window into the comings and goings of students and their trees attending our regular weekend and midweek bonsai classes under the ever watchful eyes of John Hanby.
Classroom Corner – Some July visitors to the workshops
As you can well imagine at this time of year most of the visitors were there for a summer pruning……..and maybe some got more than they bargained for!
The Crab Apple had grown well so pruning was required to channel continued growth into the areas where it was needed.
David’s tree needed a trunk selection ready for a winter wiring. It’s surprising just how much you can find to cut off even with the smallest of pines!
The Satsuki Azalea was in need of a drastic pruning to stop it reverting to a bush. it was repotted at the same time.
The Hornbeam needed a height reduction in addition to the branch pruning. The Juniper was thinned out ready for a winter wiring.
Rob’s White Pine was doing great even on it’s own roots so it was a pleasure to be able to give it a light pruning.
This dwarf Scot’s Pine was given it’s first styling…..looking good!
This small sample gives you just some idea of the variety of material we see regularly each month. There is so much to learn about all the different species…..and the best way to learn is to see them in action right before your very eyes!……It’s why we have so many students attending so many classes on a regular basis!
