A regular update on the life and times of John Hanby’s Newstead Bonsai Centre……..
Topical Times – Cloud Tree Calling
Sometimes I have to deal with the bigger stuff as well as all the little trees. My client was planning to hold a function at home and her centrepiece cloud tree had lost it’s shape.
The house was simply magnificent, set in it’s own grounds in one of our most prestigious residential locations. The floodlit cloud tree was certainly an imposing central figure in the middle of a large turning circle.
I covered the area surrounding the tree to catch an anticipated large amount of “mess”!
Pruning could then commence starting from the top and working my way down. The foliage clouds were more clearly defined both from above and below. This work was also good for the health of the tree allowing more light and air to reach the hidden lower branches.
This is actually a very good tree. Both myself and my client were pleased with the result. Options to improve the shape/structure of the tree for the future will be discussed in due course…..but for now it’s back to the classroom and all those little’uns!
